Vision Statement
Peak Veterinary Specialists is a team of veterinary specialty doctors and staff whose goal is to improve the quality of life of our patients and their human families. We offer veterinary care with a goal of service rather than profit orientation.
Our Vision is to be the veterinary referral and emergency care center of choice in the Rocky Mountain States based on seven Values.
- Compassion – Peak Veterinary Specialists delivers individualized care with gentle hands and heart. Our best effort is our only effort.
- Safety – Each decision we make and action we take is done with safety in mind for our patients, customers, our co-workers and ourselves.
- Teamwork – We are composed of talented veterinarians and staff who are caring, gentle, thorough and knowledgeable in their respective areas of expertise.
- Integrity – We are honest and accountable in the execution of our duties.
- Communication – Direct communication is the cornerstone of Peak Veterinary Specialists. We promote a mutual exchange of information and ideas among ourselves, the patient’s caregivers, and the family veterinarian.
- Fun – Each of us accepts responsibility for finding ways to contribute to a positive atmosphere for our staff and our customers.
- Environmental and Social Responsibility – The staff of Peak Veterinary Specialists is actively engaged in our local and global community. We strive to minimize the environmental footprint of our practice and to invest in our community’s concerns.
Environmental and Social Responsibility
Peak Veterinary Specialists is strongly committed to employing environmentally friendly and sustainable business practices whenever possible. The medical community creates a large amount of waste, but we are doing as much as possible to decrease our environmental footprint. We are also committed to investing in local businesses as much as possible. This not only helps to improve our local economy, but is also friendlier to our earth. The following are steps we have taken thus far:
- Wind Power - 100% of our energy is offset by wind power
- Recycled Products - All paper products contain at least 30% post consumer recycled content (printer paper, envelopes, business cards, brochures, paper towels, tissue, and toilet paper)
- Recycle Program - All paper, cardboard, paperboard, aluminum, metal, glass, plastic, and even syringe cases and Styrofoam are recycled!
- Sharps repurposing - We are using Sharps Compliance, Inc. for our sharps repurposing. Instead of our sharps and medical waste ending up in the landfill it is being transformed into a new product. Sharps Inc. uses the Sharps Compliance Waste Conversion Process. This process safely converts the waste into a new raw material in the form of pellets called PELLA-DRX. These pellets are used in the manufacturing of cement and other building materials. For more information see nolandfillsrequired.com
- Reuse
- Ice Packs- for patient comfort when needed and for overnight lab shipments
- Packing Peanuts and Bubble Wrap- taken to local shipping companies for reuse
- Printer/Copier- ink and toner either refilled or recycled through a local company
- Pill vials are thoroughly cleaned and reused when possible
- Compost
- EcoProducts is a Boulder-based company that provides us with biodegradable cups made from corn for use in our lobby
- All human and animal food scraps, paper towels, tissues, and cups are composted
- Chemicals
- Biodegradeable, non-toxic cleaners and soaps are used whenever possible
- Pharmaceuticals are never flushed or washed down the drain
- Lighting - Compact florescent bulbs are used in place of incandescent bulbs and motion sensors are used in rooms that are not frequently occupied.
- Water - Low flow aerators on all faucets
